Voting in favor of the principal period of Panchayat surveys in Jammu and Kashmir started on Saturday in the midst of blacklist call from National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Official said 427 applicants are in the shred for 536 Sarpanch Halqas and 5,951 contender for 4,048 Panch wards for first period of the Panchayat surveys. They said surveying will be held in six locale of the Kashmir Valley, two in Ladakh and seven areas in the Jammu district.
The authorities said 170 hopefuls are in the shred for 64 Sarpanch Halqas and 762 for 498 Panch wards in Kupwara area, while 21 contender for 20 Sarpanch Halqas and 81 for 146 Panch wards in Bandipora locale. In Baramulla region, 148 applicants are in the shred for 63 Sarpanch Halqas and 630 for 497 Panch wards.
Eleven possibility for 15 Sarpanch Halqas and 21 for 105 Panch wards in Ganderbal area, six contender for five Sarpanch Halqas and nine for 45 Panch wards in Srinagar and 35 possibility for 26 Sarpanch Halqas and 124 for 222 Panch wards in Budgam region are challenging the surveys in the principal stage.
In Kargil, 51 contender for 23 Sarpanch Halqas and 225 for 179 Panch wards, while in Leh, 64 possibility for 32 Sarpanch Halqas and 207 for 226 Panch wards are in the shred, the authorities said.
In Kishtwar area, 107 possibility for 50 Sarpanch Halqas and 494 for 358 Panch wards are in the shred, the authorities stated, including that 190 contender for 52 Sarpanch Halqas and 626 for 364 Panch wards are in the shred in Doda locale.
The authorities said 89 contender for 27 Sarpanch Halqas and 337 for 195 Panch wards in Ramban area and 162 possibility for 42 Sarpanch Halqas and 779 for 332 Panch wards in Udhampur locale are challenging the surveys.
In Kathua area, 114 hopefuls are in the shred for 29 Sarpanch Halqas and 450 for 209 Panch wards, while 121 contender for 35 Sarpanch Halqas and 469 for 253 Panch wards in Rajouri locale.
The authorities said 162 contender for 53 Sarpanch Halqas and 736 for 419 Panch wards in Poonch area are challenging the surveys. The sum total of what courses of action have been set up for the smooth gather information and surveying staff has been deputed to the individual surveying stations, they said.
While the surveys are being led on the non-party premise, the NC, PDP and the CPI(M) have reported to avoid the discretionary exercise because of the legitimate test to Article 35-An of the Constitution in the Supreme Court.
The NC and the PDP have requested that the Center make its stand obvious in the zenith court on the sacred arrangement and encouraged it to protect its continuation in the court. They had likewise boycotted the metropolitan surveys which were led a month ago. While separatists have required a blacklist of the surveys, activists have compromised to target anybody partaking in these races.
